WishlistThe BeagleBone Black is a development platform that is both small and low cost. It is a credit-card sized platform with a fast growing community of users thanks to the high performance AM3358 1Ghz processor on board. Furthermore, this board has 512Mb of DDR3L RAM, 4BG of flash memory built-in. JTAG is optional via a user-supplied header. The BeagleBone Black is a perfect platform for any computing requiring high performance in a small package.
The TI Sitara™ AM3358 ARM® Cortex™-A8 processor gives you loads of real time I/O and processing power. The Beaglebone Black also allows you to add a variety of plug-in boards (called capes and available to add to your purchase abov) to compliment the functionality of the BeagleBone Black.
The BeagleBone Black is not only capable of performing basic tasks such as interfacing with your sensors, cameras, or robotic motor drivers. With over 3 million Dhrystone operations per second, and vector floating point arithmetic operations, the BeagleBone Black is capable of advanced functions like running OpenCV, OpenNI and other image processing software to allow you to recognize objects or gestures to control and guide your robot.
The onboard micro HDMI means that this board is capable of decoding and displaying multiple video formats. With a VGA or LCD expansion board, you can also make full use of the completely open source software stack to enable video playback over USB or Ethernet via multiple Beaglebone Black boards to create a video wall. The possibilities of this board are seemingly endless. If you want to use this for your Drone or 3D printer, the BeagleBone Black has extensive PWM capabilities. The on-chip Ethernet, 3D rendering and manipulation capabilities all help you eliminate both your underpowered microcontroller-based controller board as well as that PC from your basement to make this your all-in-one project controller and development environment.
