Electric assisted sailplanes are a fantastic way to enjoy soaring but learning about the motors batteries props and speed controllers along with all of the other details needed to fly electrics is a huge and daunting task.

Also covered in detail are lithium polymer battery safety and charging strategies cell balancing and monitoring and how to make your batteries last. I will even show you how to properly solder the various high amp connectors available and how to wire up an ESC with a seperate BEC to safely run your radio system.

 

Other tutorials cover electricity basics propellor theory and tips on running 2.4 radio systems with electrics.

 

This DVD will help take the mystery out electric technology it presents the information in an easy to understand format without getting to technical or geeky. (Well there is a bit of a geek factor!) Pauls really into the idea of pure soaring but hes been flying electric gliders on and off over the years and now hesreally excited about having electrics be a bigger part of the soaring experience enjoying flying sites that dont have the space to set up a high start or winch and alpine thermal soaring site with no land-outs. Doing more soaring in winter too. And with new events like Altitude Limited Electric Soaring you can now compete man-on-man at flying fields that were too small for winches.
