Reviews:

Finally, a PPM solution for Spektrum users! Lots of flight controllers are compatible with PWM, PPM and SBus, but not with DSMX or DSM2, which is the modulation used by Spektrum radios. This Lemon RX receiver uses PPM and is compatible with DSMX and also backward compatible with DSM2 transmitters. PPM makes for a really neat installation, as it only requires one input for all of the channels, instead of a wire for each channel like traditional PWM does. If you are using a Naze flight controller, by using PPM it leaves most of the input channels free, these can then be reassigned to other things like GPS, OSD and telemetry.

The Rx has diversity antennas, which can be positioned differently to help ensure a secure, and reliable connection. It's a full range receiver so range shouldn't be an issue, but in the unlikely event that you do lose signal, the Rx also supports a failsafe. Without a failsafe, if RX signal is lost the last signal command continues i.e. full throttle! With a failsafe you can configure it to default to a zero throttle, so at least your drone will crash-land rather than flying off into the distance.

The receiver weighs in at only 2.7g and it's barely bigger than a postage stamp, so you should be able to use it with even the smallest of racing drones.

Unlike some Spektrum compatible products, Lemon Rx products aren't inferior to Spektrum products in terms of performance or reliability.

Features:

  • Spektrum DSMX full range receiver with PPM
  • True diversity dual antennas with independent processor for monitoring singal on both antennas
  • Antennas extended for carbon fuselage / metalic structure installation
  • FailSafe supported

How dual antennas work

An independent processor monitors an incoming signal and choose the appropriate antenna for reception. This allows 2 different locations for installing the antennas along with different orientation. Satellite is no longer needed for receiver diversity. This greatly reduces weight with increased overall reliability in comparison to the use of a primary receiver with satellite receiver.

Binding Setup
1) Plug bind plug to the receiver.
2) Provide power to the unit.
3) Enable bind mode in transmitter and ensure distance separation of 2 meters from receiver.
4) Upon successful binding and if FailSafe do not wish to be set, remove bind plug upon binding.

Setting Failsafe (see video)
1) Insert bind plug into the receiver.
2) Power on transmitter and receiver.
3) Set transmitter controls to the desired failsafe positions.
4) Press the side push button to memorize failsafe settings.
5) Observe that the green light at the end of the receiver turns on to indicate failsafe is set. (Repeat step 4 will cause the LED to turn off which means failsafe is disabled).
6) Remove bind plug.
7) Disconnect the power for at least 2 seconds and then reconnect the power again.
8) Test failsafe by turning off the transmitter.

Pulse Sequence
The PPM pulse sequence is in the following order: Throttle Aileron Elevator Rudder Gear Aux1 Aux2 Aux3

Note: This is not a Spektrum product, nor is it a copy of any Spektrum product. Lemon RX develops its own technology to produce receivers which are fully DSM2 / DSMX compatible. Spketrum, DSMX and DSM2 are the registered trademark of Horizon Hobby, Inc.
