DYS 250 Power Pack Set - Motors BE1806 / ESCs XM20A / Props 5030

Which motor should I use with which ESC and prop combination is a question we get asked a lot. With a massive array of products and brands to choose from, component matching can be quite challenging, especially if you are new to the hobby. Our advice to beginners is to look at what other people are using successfully. If you do that, you’ll see that the DYS products are very popular with FPV drone racers and mini quad builders alike. DYS have now brought out a series of ‘power packs’, which makes the whole selection process much easier and cheaper too. All of the power packs include a complete set of matched components for a 250-sized mini quad: motors, ESCs and props.

Motor Options:

DYS BE1806 2300kv

The BE1806 is a well proven motor. It maybe small, but it produces a lot of thrust, over 500g in fact. Its high thrust to weight ratio makes it the perfect motor for 250 size racing drones and similar multicopter frames running 3-4S. The motor utilises quality components such as strong neodymium, high temperature magnets, a high-precision CNC machined shell, and top quality Japanese bearings. Furthermore the quality of construction matches that of the component selection; every motor is tested for concentricity and balanced for smooth running. The end result is a very smooth, powerful yet efficient, and crucially reliable brushless motor.

ESCs Options:

DYS BL16A – recommended for 3S setups

The BL16A is ultra small, very light (only 7.6g each) and arrives flashed with the best multirotor firmware out there, namely BLHeli. Being specifically designed for multirotor use, it is tuned to deliver an ultra fast throttle response, which helps to improve stability and give you that much sough-after locked-in feeling!

DYS XM20A V1 – recommended for 3-4S setups

The DYS BL series ESCs are a common sight in a lot of racing quads and for good reason; they are incredibly light and deliver a really lock-in feel. However, as with any technology things move on and now DYS have brought out their next generation XM series ESCs. The XM series feature the latest in ESC technology, which improves performance, efficiency and reliability. While we have no problem with recommending the DYS BL16A for 3S setups, we would suggest you opt for the XM20A esc if you plan to run 4S. The XM20A ESC is also unique in that it comes with direct solder pad motor outputs (instead of motor wires), which reduces weight and lends itself to neat installations.

Propeller Options:

The power pack is completed with a set of well-balanced nylon 5030 CW/CCW propellers, which includes a spare pair.
