WishlistIf you're thinking of building a mini quad, you are probably considering which motor to use. With so many different motors and brands on the market, it can be a little confusing. Our advice to beginners is to look at what other people are using successfully. If you do that, you’ll see that the DYS BE1806 is a very popular choice. Amongst drone building enthusiasts, the 1806 has become a go to motor for 250 mini racing quads.
The DYS BE1806 2300KV may only be small but it produces a lot of thrust, over 500g in fact. Its high thrust to weight ratio makes it the perfect motor for 250 size racing drones and similar multicopter frames. The best thing about it is the price; it's affordable which for a racing drone is a good thing as they tend to be crashed a lot!
DYS has recognised the popularity of the 1806 and have now brought out a ‘power pack’ featuring a set of four black 1806 motors for a quad build. The power pack works out cheaper than buying the 4 motors individually, and it comes with both CW and CCW self-tightening prop adapters. As standard the 1806 only come with a CW adapters. This isn’t ideal as the CCW rotating motors can cause the prop spinner to become loose with obvious consequences.
The motor is specified as 2-3S (7.4v - 11.1v), but many people are using it successfully on 4S (14.8v). It's designed for use with 5" to 6" propellers (max 5" on 4S).
The motor utilises quality components such as strong neodymium, high temperature magnets, a high-precision CNC machined shell, and top quality Japanese bearings. Furthermore the quality of construction matches that of the component selection; every motor is tested for concentricity and balanced for smooth running. The end result is a very smooth, powerful yet efficient, and crucially reliable brushless motor.
The BE1806 power pack comes complete with an accessory pack including: M2 fixing screws, 2mm gold bullet connectors and a choice of prop adapters to suit standard 5mm bolt-on type props or direct mount propellers.
IMPORTANT - Secure the prop adapter with the SHORT screws, the long screws hit the motor windings and should only be used to attach the motor.
